Sojourner girl
You are a celtic city
Captured by the envelope
Of modern society
Roaming the world
In something like a cirrus
With a looking glass appearance
Oh..
But I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
You will never ever love me at all
Sojourner girl
You are proof of quantum physics
You're a struggle of the mystics
And pagan mysteries
If the light of the world
Is just beyond Venus
Then what is this between us?
Oh...
But I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
Yeah
I know you'll never love me
You will never ever love me at all
Ahh
Mysterious droid
Lying undercover
Message inside
Of a one-track lover
Misunderstood
Dust in all the circuits
Used and abused in a way
That it can't tell anyone
'Cause it ain't torture
Just a mess of it's kind
Shot in a battle
Lost and decayed
Decades of chattel
And everyone finds
Simple delight
In it's falconian mind
But the happiness fades
Into thorns in your hand
Tweezer intelligence
Foot in it's mouth
Bread on the table
Ship shifted shack
Shells and delivered
Shot in the sky
Tipped to the sound
Of a loving reply
Making nervous memory birds
Come to the surface
Maple seas coming to
A blood intersection
Hands outstretched
A love resurrection
Seventy-ply
Is that even something?
And if loneliness died with it's friend
Then this is a faction
Of limitless limbo
The heart on your sleeve
Belongs to a servant
Of chivalrous minds
And merciless kinds
And when you finally put the pieces together
The walls came down
And the servants were set free
And when you finally put the pieces together
The walls came down
And the servant was king
"Sojourner Girl/Droid Puzzle" was recorded in the beginning stages of the forthcoming 12th album, Seeing Beyond The End Of The World, but strangely resembles it in no way, shape, or form, so I decided it's probably better off as it's own thing... "Pump Up Suburban Chicago" was recorded in the beginning stages of The Stone, The Blood. It was May of 2015, and Trent and I decided to check out as many CD's from the Batavia Library as we possibly could (which I believe ended up being a total of 105) with the goal of listening to all of them before they were due back. We didn't come close to reaching this goal, but after listening to an Acid House compilation, I became inspired and recorded both "Pump Up Suburban Chicago" and "Jacket Song" that night. Almost a year later, it fits pretty well with the droidy half of "Sojourner Girl/Droid Puzzle"... So I guess I'll release it too.
